The experience of adapting to a home in a new country represents unique challenges.  Similarly,  adjusting to reentry into your original country after an overseas stay is often more difficult than the experience of adapting to a foreign culture.  Many individuals struggle with:

How to regain a sense of competence

Developing a healthy support network

Adjusting to changes in family routines

Coping with cultural norms that may be uncomfortable

Dealing with the loss of the people and activities left behind

Questions about how to respond to the needs of our children and their adjustment to these factors

In addition to practicing here in the US, I have worked in Sri Lanka and in Egypt with Americans and other expatriates as well as host-country nationals.  I welcome patients from any country of origin, whether they are seeking to facilitate their adjustment to life in this area, or whether they are facing issues in other aspects of their lives.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
